Wait! Why You Should Dry Your Body Thoroughly After a Shower?
Even though modern urban water systems use advanced filtration, chlorine remains widely used to disinfect tap water. With frequent and prolonged showers, repeated exposure to chlorinated water can weaken the skin’s natural barrier, contributing to dryness, irritation, and reduced skin comfort.

Post-Shower Skincare: Less Water, More Hydration

After showering, it's best to gently dry your face and body thoroughly with a soft towel before applying a moisturiser. This helps lock hydration into the skin and supports its natural protective barrier. While regular exposure to chlorinated water can contribute to dryness, a consistent skincare routine can help restore moisture and comfort. Staying well hydrated throughout the day and choosing skincare products formulated with hyaluronic acid are simple yet effective ways to keep your skin healthy, supple, and hydrated.

Drying Technique: The Details Matter

  1. When drying your body, décolleté, and face, choose soft terry towels made with a high percentage of cotton, ideally towels made of 100% organic cotton. Natural cotton are gentle on the skin, highly absorbent, and help create a more comfortable post-shower routine.

  2. Avoid rubbing your skin vigorously. Instead, gently pat your skin dry with the towel. Patting removes moisture just as effectively while helping to protect the skin barrier from unnecessary friction and irritation. For exfoliation or massage, use products specifically designed for that purpose, such as body scrubs, exfoliating treatments, or massage brushes, a towel should never replace them.

  3. Towels should be washed at least once a week, as they naturally collect moisture, dead skin cells, and bacteria with regular use. To keep your towel fresher between washes, avoid leaving it damp after use. Instead, allow it to dry completely on a heated towel rail. Thorough drying helps reduce bacterial growth and preserves the softness and performance of the fabric over time.

  4. Face towels deserve even more attention. Since facial skin is more delicate and prone to sensitivity, it's best to use a fresh face towel every day. Keeping several face towels on hand makes this an easy habit. Using disposable paper towels to dry your face is no longer considered best practice. Today, a set of fresh reusable cotton face towels is regarded as the more elegant, sustainable, and environmentally conscious choice.

  5. Finally, store clean towels in a dry linen cupboard rather than in the bathroom whenever possible. The warm, humid environment of a bathroom creates ideal conditions for bacteria and mold to multiply, while a cool, dry storage space helps keep towels fresh for longer.
